Columbus Community Hospital

Board-certified lactation counselors

Breastfeeding your baby can be a wonderful, intimate experience, but it isn’t always easy to start. You may have difficulties with latching, milk production or nipple pain, and you need someone with experience to take your hand and guide you through it. That’s where Columbus Community Hospital’s board-certified lactation counselors come in. They are available to provide one-on-one care and instruction so you and your baby can have a successful breastfeeding experience.

Our services

CCH’s board-certified lactation counselors use evidence-based practices to support and educate families. They are a great source of encouragement and information as they empower parents to make their own decisions.

Board-certified lactation counselors can offer information on:

  • Comfort positions to help babies latch.
  • Breast pain or infections.
  • Whether babies are getting enough milk.
  • Pumping and storing milk safely.
  • Skin-to-skin contact after delivery.
  • Nursing multiples or babies with special needs.
  • Breastfeeding mothers returning to work.

CCH also offers a free breastfeeding class on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
