Biography

If Dr. Andrew Baldwin could travel back in time (along with his trusty 21st-century phone, of course), he'd love to get a selfie with patriot Paul Revere. He says he'd get major respect from his youngest child.

Until time travel becomes scientifically possible, however, he's happy doing his part to help other people as an ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) at Columbus Surgery Center.

"We provide personalized, compassionate care to every person we have the privilege to take care of," he said.

"I personally enjoy successful surgery outcomes that improve the quality of life for my patients."

Originally from North Dakota, Baldwin and his wife came to Columbus because they wanted to live in a rural Nebraska city, and they found Columbus to be a very friendly and welcoming community.

He says he had always wanted to be an ophthalmologist when he was growing up, and even had an opportunity as a high-schooler to job-shadow a friend's dad who was an ophthalmologist.

When he's not helping his patients see better, Baldwin enjoys spending time with his family (in addition to his wife, it includes four children, one dog, and one cat that's a certified mouser). He also helps out with home schooling activities and is very active in his church, Highland Park Church.

He says the most helpful career advice he has ever received in his career is to "Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord."

And if he were to eat only one thing for the rest of his life, he'd opt to follow in Harry Potter's footsteps and eat chocolate frogs, with a butterbeer to wash them down.
