January 2025 | My journey into

Olivia Tawney has only been working as a receptionist at Columbus Otolaryngology Clinic for a short time. But already, she is excited about the potential for advancement and growth at the clinic and Columbus Community Hospital, viewing it as a place where she can truly make a difference.

Tawney grew up in the small town of North Bend, located just 30 miles east of Columbus. As the youngest of five siblings, she learned the importance of family, and she now enjoys the role of aunt to four (soon to be five) nieces and nephews. Her home is also a haven for her two beloved pets: Milly, a Golden Retriever whose playful energy brings joy to her days, and Winston, a cat who provides quiet companionship.

In her free time, Tawney enjoys a variety of activities that reflect her vibrant personality. She loves attending concerts, traveling to new destinations and immersing herself in different cultures, cheering on the Huskers with fellow fans, sharing the simple pleasure of visiting the dog park with Milly and, most importantly, spending time with her friends and family.

After graduating from North Bend Central in 2022, Olivia demonstrated her dedication to education by beginning to complete her general education requirements online through Metropolitan Community College, while also working. This experience honed her time-management skills and solidified her commitment to earning a degree - a goal she is determined to achieve.

Before coming to work at Columbus Otolaryngology Clinic, Tawney gained valuable experience at a chiropractic office in Fremont, Nebraska. Her responsibilities there included working as a receptionist, handling insurance matters and helping perform X-rays. Her experiences provided her with a solid foundation in both the administrative and patient care aspects of the medical field.

"My passion for the medical field and my genuine desire to help patients achieve better health and well-being led me to Columbus Community Hospital," she said. She was immediately drawn to the positive and caring work environment, where she felt a sense of belonging among the knowledgeable doctors and staff.

Tawney's current duties include checking patients in and out and providing excellent customer service with a warm and welcoming demeanor, scheduling appointments efficiently, and answering phone calls with professionalism and empathy. CCH has provided significant support, she said. "The hospital has offered valuable benefits and consistent guidance and reassurance whenever I have questions or concerns," she said, "demonstrating its commitment to employee well-being."

Tawney's future aspirations include earning her degree and advancing in her career at the hospital, contributing her skills and dedication to the team.

"I highly recommend Columbus Community Hospital to anyone considering a career in ," she said. "The environment is consistently positive, with supportive colleagues who always offer a smile, creating a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere. I believe it is a truly wonderful place to work, where I can thrive both personally and professionally."
