(COLUMBUS, Neb.) – Columbus Community Hospital recently finished the seventh year of its
Professional Development Program, which helps nurses deepen their knowledge so they can provide
better care to patients.
Eleven nurses completed the program — Micala Dempcy, Kaylee Johnson, Kara Kudera, Sara Becker,
Karissa Martensen, Danyelle Figueroa, Macy Reichmuth, Elisabeth Schalk, Sydney Steffen, Heather Elton
and Madelyn Mohlman.
"As chief nursing officer, I am incredibly proud to recognize the outstanding nurses who have achieved
their Professional Development Program designation," said Tawny Sandifer, the hospital’s vice president
of nursing and patient care services.
The Professional Development Program recognizes nursing staff members who have chosen to go above
and beyond their regular duties to influence their profession and the hospital, while also continuing to
provide direct patient care at the bedside.
The program’s goal is to encourage and support nurses as they engage in educational opportunities that
provide them with a greater sense of community.
"These nurses’ dedication to lifelong learning, commitment to personal and professional growth, and
passion for excellence is evident in all they do,” said Sandifer. “I am so proud of their work and the
positive impact they have on our patients and our community. Congratulations to each of them.”
