Health Science Pathway annual report highlights record growth

(COLUMBUS, Neb.) – Columbus Community Hospital is proud to announce the successful completion of
the 2024-25 academic year for its Health Science Pathway program. This year marked a period of
significant growth, with the program expanding to include Scotus Central Catholic High School and a
record number of students across all three participating schools: Columbus High School, Lakeview High
School and Scotus.
The program’s accomplishments are detailed in the 2024-25 Health Science Pathway annual report,

The Health Science Pathway, a collaborative effort between CCH and local high schools, provides
students with a unique opportunity to explore various healthcare careers through a comprehensive
curriculum. The program helps prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals with its focus on
real-world experience and hands-on learning.
A key highlight of the 2024-25 year was the expansion of the certified nursing assistant (CNA) program,
which successfully added 90 certified nursing assistants to the Platte County community.
The pathway curriculum, which includes Health Science 1 (introduction to healthcare), Health Science 2
(advanced topics), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Health Science 3 (capstone job shadowing
experience), has seen impressive enrollment numbers this year:
- Health Science 1: 161 students
- Health Science 2: 55 students
- Health Science 3: 21 students
- CNA: 71 students
The success of the Health Science Pathway is a reflection of the strong partnership between Columbus
Community Hospital and all three participating high schools. The program is shaping the future of healthcare in our community by fostering compassionate, engaged and well-prepared leaders.
