(COLUMBUS, Neb.) – At Columbus Community Hospital, community isn't just a word — it's our middle
name. We celebrate the compassionate care and support that helps our community thrive.

CCH is a community-owned, not-for-profit hospital, and our leaders, doctors, nurses and staff nurture a
sense of community in every decision and interaction, every day.

One local doctor who consistently delivers the best for our community is general surgeon Dr. Jacob Oran
with Columbus General Surgery. He treats a range of medical issues, from hernia and trauma surgery to
gallbladder surgery — including advanced techniques for bile duct stones. He also has expertise in
colonoscopy and upper endoscopy, breast cancer, soft tissue and skin cancer, adrenal surgery and
wound care for pressure ulcers and infections.

For Oran, it’s important to communicate effectively and bring a sense of calm to stressful situations. He
said he enjoys general surgery, as it provides him with a chance to solve problems for patients every
day.

He also appreciates being part of a hospital that provides surgical services and specialty care to the local
community.

“Surgery can be stressful for patients and the entire family,” Oran said. “When a patient can have
surgery close to home, we see a ripple effect of benefits. Patients often do better if they have their
family around them. They may have less pain, be more physically active and recover faster from surgery.
Plus, they don’t have to spend time and money traveling long distances for care.”

Our caregivers embrace the shared values and enhance the lives of those they are proud to call friends
and neighbors — right here, in the heart of our community.
