Annual report highlights professional practice highlights

(COLUMBUS, Neb.) – Columbus Community Hospital has released its 2024-25 professional practice
annual report, celebrating a year of growth, innovation and professional development for its nursing
team. The report reflects CCH’s ongoing investment in education and training.
“This past year has been a testament to our team’s resilience and innovation,” said Alecia Neidig, RN,
BSN, a life support instructor and the hospital’s director of professional practice. “Whether
implementing new simulation technologies or evolving our internship and residency programs, our staff
embraced every challenge with grace and determination. Their dedication ensures our nurses are
prepared, supported and empowered to deliver exceptional care.”
Over the past year, nurses at CCH benefited from new technology, expanded mentorship opportunities
and nationally recognized training programs. The hospital’s simulation lab introduced Hal, an advanced
artificial intelligence-powered mannequin that allows nurses to practice real-life scenarios in a safe
learning environment. Alongside this investment, the hospital launched new student and nurse
residency programs that provide hands-on experience, financial support and structured mentorship for
the next generation of nurses.
“The accomplishments outlined in this year’s professional practice annual report reflect the unwavering
dedication of our nursing team to excellence, innovation and compassionate care,” said Tawny Sandifer,
the hospital’s vice president of patient care. “From the launch of advanced simulation technologies to
the expansion of nurse residency and internship programs, our nurse educators continue to lead with
integrity and purpose. Their commitment to lifelong learning and interdisciplinary collaboration ensures
that our patients receive the highest standard of care. I am honored to be part of this exceptional
team.”
Over the past year, CCH enhanced its preceptor training program, ensuring experienced nurses have the
tools they need to guide new staff with confidence. Through partnerships with local colleges and
universities, the hospital continues to serve as a vital training ground for students, while strengthening
the pipeline of healthcare providers in the region.
