(COLUMBUS, Neb.) - Angie Ramaekers, director of volunteer and guest services at Columbus
Community Hospital, recently earned the Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) credential
through the Beryl Institute Credentialing Center.

The CAVS designation is a national certification that recognizes healthcare professionals who
demonstrate the knowledge and leadership skills needed to successfully manage hospital-based
volunteer programs. To qualify, candidates must meet strict education and experience requirements
before passing a rigorous 100-question exam.

For Ramaekers, earning the certification was both a professional milestone and a personal goal.
“This has been on my radar for a long time,” she said. “It was something I always kept in mind and
budgeted for, but other things kept taking priority. I finally decided to go for it, and I’m proud I did.”

Despite the challenge, Ramaekers passed — officially earning the credential she had long pursued.
“Angie’s passion for serving others shines through everything she does,” said Mike Hansen, president at
CCH. “Her CAVS certification is a reflection of her hard work, dedication and continued commitment to
providing a meaningful experience for our volunteers and the patients they support.”

Ramaekers has led CCH’s volunteer and guest services department since 2009, where she has developed
training programs, improved volunteer engagement and expanded the department’s impact throughout
the hospital.

In the 16 years Ramaekers has led the department, she has developed a loyal following among both
volunteers and staff members. “She commands so much respect because she genuinely cares about
people,” said Amy Blaser, vice president for physician relations and business development at the
hospital. “Angie is in charge of so many services at our hospital, and yet she makes it look easy.”

Ramaekers’ accomplishment reflects CCH’s continued focus on excellence, professional development
and patient-centered care.
