Randy Perault, MSPT, SCS, ATC
Director of Premier Physical Therapy
Randy is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota, and his master’s degree in physical therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. While at Mankato State, Randy spent two summers with the New Orleans Saints football team as a student trainer. After 10 years in private practice, Randy and his wife, Pam, joined Columbus Community Hospital’s Premier Physical Therapy in 2004.
Randy specializes in orthopedics and sports medicine. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the American Physical Therapy Association. He is credentialed in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) through The McKenzie Institute in Syracuse, New York, to evaluate and treat spinal problems.
Randy and Pam have lived in Columbus for more than 25 years and enjoy spending time with their four children and participating in outdoor activities.
Jon Brezenski, PT, DPT, ATC, Cred MDT
Jon graduated from Briar Cliff University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER). He passed the Board of Certification examination in November 2002 and became a certified athletic trainer (ATC). Jon graduated in May 2005 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. He joined Premier Physical Therapy at Columbus Community Hospital in June 2005.
Jon earned MDT Certification from The McKenzie Institute® USA Center for Postgraduate Study in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT) in 2011. Physical therapists must complete a series of advanced postgraduate courses to become certified practitioners of the McKenzie Method® of MDT. It is an evidence-based patient management system proven to eliminate back, neck and extremity pain in fewer visits than traditional treatment.
Jon became a credentialed clinical instructor through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in 2014. He is an active member of the APTA and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
Jon is married to his high school sweetheart, Kristie, and is the father of four daughters — Libbie, Emma, Allie and Aubree. In his free time, Jon enjoys exercising, golfing, hunting and fishing. He is also active in coaching youth and high school soccer.
Jay Pelan, PT, DPT, CSCS, CertMDT
Jay received his Master of Physical Therapy degree in 2003 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He began practicing at Columbus Community Hospital in 2004, and later completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2005. Jay specializes in various orthopedic conditions, such as total joint replacements, shoulder/elbow, knee and ankle/foot conditions.
Jay received advanced training in the McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy method for treating back and neck pain. He received his credentialing from The McKenzie Institute in Syracuse, New York, in 2011, and is certified in this treatment method for spinal and extremity disorders. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association since 2005. Jay is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association. Jay is a David City, Nebraska, native and completed his college undergraduate work at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he played football.
In his free time, Jay enjoys coaching various sports at the high school and elementary school levels. Jay and his wife, Tina, have five children and live in Columbus.
Matt Wesch, PT, DPT, CertMDT
Matt received his Bachelor of Human Science degree from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska, and his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2005.
Matt joined the Columbus Community Hospital Rehabilitative Services team in 2005, and then joined the Premier Physical Therapy team in 2022. He currently treats a wide variety of patients — he is especially interested in orthopedic and neurologic conditions. He received credentialing in McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) for treating and preventing neck and back pain. He also has received advanced training in Parkinson's disease, with certifications in LSVT Big® and PWR!® treatment.
Matt and his wife, Heidi, live in Columbus with their two sons. He enjoys camping, watching sporting events and participating in his children’s activities.
Pam Perault, MS, PT, ATC Ret
Pam Perault, MS, PT, ATC Ret. has been a licensed physical therapist for more than 30 years and retired from athletic training after 28 years. She is a native of Beemer, Nebraska, and is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in education and athletic training. She received her master’s degree in physical therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Pam specializes in orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation and treats patients of all age ranges. Pam trained on the McKenzie Method of mechanical diagnosis and treatment of the cervical spine, lumbar spine and extremities. She also trained on Balance-Based Torso-Weighting for neurological conditions that cause imbalance. Pam is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association and the National Athletic Training Association.
Pam’s goal is to safely guide her patients through rehab and help them return to their highest level of independence and performance. She and her husband, Randy, work as physical therapists for Columbus Community Hospital, and have been practicing physical therapy in Columbus for nearly 30 years. They have four grown children, and Columbus has definitely become the place they call home.
Katelyn McPhillips, PTA
Katelyn McPhillips attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska, to receive her associate’s degree, and graduated as a physical therapist assistant in 2014. Throughout her career, she’s worked at outpatient sports and orthopedic rehabilitation clinics in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Stillwater, Oklahoma, helping patients regain their strength and mobility. As a physical therapist assistant, she works under the direction of the physical therapist to assist patients with their exercises and other therapeutic interventions. She records each patient’s progress and reports it to the physical therapist for their continued rehabilitation plan.
Katelyn joined the team at Premier Physical Therapy in December 2021. She is certified in blood flow restriction and is a certified health coach. Her favorite part about working as a physical therapist assistant is building relationships with her patients and watching them return to doing what they love.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Levi, and their four children. Together they spend a lot of time outdoors, attending sporting events and teaching their kids about livestock.
Amy Nelson, PTA
Amy Nelson, PTA, has been a licensed physical therapist assistant since 2009. She received her Associate of Science degree in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program from Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Amy is a native of Columbus and has lived here all her life. She has been employed with Columbus Community Hospital at Premier Physical Therapy since 2003, where she began as a rehab tech before earning her degree.
Amy specializes in outpatient orthopedics, sports medicine rehabilitation and acute care. She has attended the McKenzie Method courses, specializing in the lumbar and cervical spine. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association.
Amy’s goal is to help people reach their daily and future goals and have a better overall quality of life. Amy and her husband, Kory, reside in Columbus and have three children.
