Significant hearing loss is a common, major birth defect. If you do not treat your baby’s hearing loss right away, they may experience speech, language and intellectual delays, so it’s important to undergo hearing tests as soon as possible and provide early intervention and treatment, if needed.
At Columbus Community Hospital, we can perform hearing tests either when your baby is awake or when they are asleep. We test all babies before they leave the hospital and give results to their parents immediately.
If a rescreen is necessary, we can make arrangements with you for that screening before you leave the hospital.
