Wide-bore MRI

Siemens Magnetom Aera3Columbus Community Hospital’s new wide-bore MRI system is an example of the hospital’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art equipment and the highest quality patient care.

What is a wide-bore MRI?

With a larger opening than a typical MRI machine, the wide-bore system gives patients a more comfortable space during their MRI scans. This is particularly helpful for patients who have claustrophobia, pain, a large body size or other issues that can make traditional MRI scans difficult and unpleasant.

The wide-bore MRI system offers patients both the comfort of an open-bore MRI system and the high-quality imaging of a closed-bore MRI system. This new technology provides a better patient experience, premium image quality and reduced exam times.

With the new Siemens Magnetom Aera:

  • Patients will have almost 30% more room.
  • Scan times will be reduced for most exams.
  • Scans will be 80% quieter.
  • Physicians will receive higher-quality scan images.
  • Scan prices will be reduced by an average of 19%.
