Columbus Community Hospital is proud to announce the official name of its new, state-of-the-art cancer care facility — the Mead Family Cancer Center. Set to open in fall 2026, the center will bring comprehensive cancer care under one roof, offering advanced treatment; cutting-edge technology; and a personalized, compassionate approach to care.
The naming of the Mead Family Cancer Center marks an important milestone in CCH’s mission to provide high-quality cancer care to the region. The center is named in honor of a generous donation from the Mead family.
The Mead Family Cancer Center will span 26,500 square feet and consolidate CCH’s oncology services, including infusion therapy, radiation oncology (Columbus Cancer Care), medical oncology (Hematology & Oncology Consultants, PC), PET/CT imaging and patient navigation — all in one location. This centralized approach aims to streamline care, making it more accessible and efficient for patients, while also enhancing coordination among the health care team.

With a focus on cutting-edge technology, the Mead Family Cancer Center will feature a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator — an advanced radiation therapy system known for its precision, speed and ability to minimize damage to surrounding healthy tissue. The cancer center will also offer access to a permanent PET/CT (positron emission tomography/computed tomography) scanner, which will be available five days a week. This technology, which was previously only available once a week through a mobile unit, will provide faster diagnoses and more accurate monitoring.
The Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator was selected to be part of the Mead Family Cancer Center for the following reasons:
Our comprehensive team of cancer experts offers quality and compassionate cancer care that you can count on when you need it most.
Our experienced medical oncologists, radiologists, surgeons, certified oncology nurses and trained staff members all take a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care. That means they regularly share best practices and care protocols while staying focused on treating the whole person.
This advanced approach allows our local cancer experts to practice within nationally recognized guidelines and provide the most outstanding cancer care. Using this approach, they are able to offer treatments and technologies that are typically found in larger communities. This allows patients to receive the quality and offerings of a big city while they enjoy the comforts of staying close to home. Plus, patients and families receive consistent care from providers they know and trust, and that continuity of care is invaluable.
From screenings through survivorship, you can always count on receiving quality, close-to-home cancer care at CCH, including quick appointment access and timely test results. And, most importantly, you can take advantage of the support of friends and family who are nearby.
