Your actual charges will depend upon a variety of factors as listed below, but they are not limited to the factors in this list. Actual charges can, and will, vary from patient to patient depending upon their individual health care needs and their physician’s treatment.
Variables that may lead to differences between your estimated price and your actual price include:
- The length of time spent in surgery or recovery.
- The number of days spent in the hospital.
- Specific equipment used.
- Supplies and medications required.
- Additional tests required by your physician.
- Specific surgery with CPT codes (many variables).
- Any unusual special care, unexpected conditions or complications.
These estimates do not include any physician charges (e.g. office visit, surgeon, emergency room physician, radiologist, pathologist, consulting physicians, etc.). Tissue examined by an outside lab is billed separately. If you have insurance, your benefits will ultimately determine the amount you owe (including deductibles, co-pay, co-insurance and out-of-pocket maximums).

Charge Description Master (CDM)
The CDM spreadsheet contains the list of Columbus Community Hospital’s standard charges for items and services provided by the hospital. This document is commonly referred to as the Charge Description Master (CDM). Columbus Community Hospital’s standard charges are separate and distinct from physicians’ charges. The CDM spreadsheet is updated at least annually and represents pricing effective as of that date.
