First Steps Pregnancy Education Program
Columbus Community Hospital’s First Steps education program allows CCH staff to get to know new parents before the birth of their child.
The program also provides a foundation of knowledge to help ease the transition of becoming a new parent.
When new parents participate in the First Steps education program, CCH staff will contact them at various milestones throughout their pregnancy by sending them information in the mail.
When expectant mothers reach 36 weeks gestation, CCH staff will invite them to the hospital to talk about their birth expectations; provide education regarding labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn care; and sign the necessary paperwork for their stay.
The goal of this program is to make new parents’ birthing experiences as enjoyable and relaxing as possible without the added anxiety of the unknown.
For more information on this program or to sign up, contact the Maternal Child Health Department at 402-562-3266.
