Lakeview Junior-Senior High School has been honored with the 2024 Nebraska Career and Technical Education Outstanding Secondary Program Award by the Nebraska Department of Education. This accolade recognizes the school's exceptional career education program, which includes notable achievements in student performance, innovative instruction, leadership development, career guidance, and alignment with Nebraska's workforce needs.
A key component of this success is the Health Science Pathway program, a collaborative effort between Lakeview, Central Community College, and Columbus Community Hospital. This program, now in its second year, provides students with comprehensive training in medical careers, including CPR, first aid, and Stop the Bleed techniques, and offers a pathway to becoming certified nursing assistants. The award reflects the significant growth and positive impact of this initiative on students' career readiness and community engagement. Lakeview will receive the award at the NCE Conference this summer.
