Lakeview Junior-Senior High School has been honored with the 2024 Nebraska Career and Technical Education Outstanding Secondary Program Award. This accolade, presented by the Nebraska Department of Education, recognizes the school’s exceptional career education efforts, particularly through its Health Science Pathway program. This initiative, a collaboration with Central Community College and Columbus Community Hospital, equips students with critical healthcare skills, including CPR, first aid, and Stop the Bleed techniques, and provides a route to becoming certified nursing assistants.
The award underscores the program's achievements in student performance, innovative teaching methods, leadership development, and community involvement. The Health Science Pathway, which has rapidly expanded since its inception, reflects Lakeview’s dedication to preparing students for careers in healthcare and meeting Nebraska's workforce demands. The award will be presented at the NCE Conference this summer.
