Hospital encourages community to “talk about it” on National Healthcare Decisions Day

Columbus Community Hospital is encouraging individuals to take part in National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD) on April 16 by discussing and documenting their healthcare wishes for end-of-life care. The hospital emphasizes the importance of creating advance directives, such as living wills and durable powers of attorney for healthcare, when individuals are healthy, so that their preferences are clear in case they become unable to make decisions. Nebraska law supports every adult’s right to make healthcare decisions, and the hospital offers free resources to help individuals create or update their advance directive documents.
