Expanding horizons: CCH signs agreement with UNMC to build workforce

Columbus Community Hospital has signed a master affiliation agreement with the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) to streamline and enhance workforce development efforts. This agreement consolidates existing collaborations and agreements into one comprehensive partnership aimed at addressing workforce challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. CCH CEO Mike Hansen noted that the agreement integrates multiple prior agreements into a cohesive package, supporting the hospital’s goal of building a robust rural healthcare workforce.

UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey Gold emphasized that such agreements are crucial for advancing rural health care by providing valuable educational experiences and fostering future healthcare professionals. The collaboration aims to increase the number of students who choose to work in rural areas and serve as a recruitment tool for CCH.
