Columbus Surgery Center introduces new surgery system

August 01, 2024

Columbus Surgery Center has introduced the Ngenuity digital surgery system, a cutting-edge technology designed to enhance cataract surgery and improve surgeon comfort. Unlike traditional methods where surgeons use microscopes, Ngenuity replaces the microscope's binoculars with a camera, allowing surgeons to operate while sitting ergonomically and viewing a 3D screen.

This setup not only reduces physical strain on surgeons but also maintains high standards of care. The system also enables the operating room staff to view the surgery in 3D, enhancing teamwork and patient care. Funded by the Columbus Community Hospital Foundation, Ngenuity represents a significant advancement for the community, offering sophisticated technology that rivals those in larger cities and supporting the recruitment of new ophthalmologists.
