Columbus Community Hospital hosts ag safety conference

Columbus Community Hospital held its first agricultural safety event, focusing on the health and safety of farmers in the region. The event covered topics like grain bin safety and offered health screenings, with an emphasis on the importance of balancing work with self-care. Ag Safety Committee Member Wade Hilker urged farmers to prioritize their health instead of "pushing through the pain." The event also addressed the challenges of transitioning farm responsibilities to younger generations, highlighting the importance of safety, financial planning, and sun protection.

Director of Occupational Health Services, Danielle Frewing, and dermatologist Dillon Clarey emphasized the significance of self-care and regular check-ups, especially for farmers exposed to the elements.
