Columbus Fieldhouse

Building healthy lifestyles

Latest news
Keep up with the latest updates about the Columbus Fieldhouse by reading our Fieldhouse Newsletter here.

Why a fieldhouse?
At Columbus Community Hospital, we want to give the gift of health to our community, helping those who live in the Columbus area build lifelong healthy habits and have enhanced opportunities
for competitive sports.

That’s why we plan to build a new sports complex which includes a fieldhouse on our property.

Many people come to CCH for their medical needs, but we are committed to caring for them before they require hospitalization. Health and wellness are vital to the future of our community, and a fieldhouse used primarily for competitive sports is how we can achieve both those goals. This facility would be available to everyone, regardless of health status or income level, and would be one of the
only fieldhouses of its kind in Nebraska.

Vital for our community
The facts are clear: Columbus needs a fieldhouse. When the hospital participated in a community health needs assessment, the study showed there is a rising rate of obesity, diabetes and heart disease at an early age among men, women and even children. CCH built a Health and Wellness Center to provide a facility where community members could exercise and learn healthy habits. But that was only the first step.

A sports complex/fieldhouse will integrate fitness, wellness, rehabilitation services and child care — all under one roof. The project not only will help CCH fulfill its mission to improve the health of the community, but it also will be an important step in addressing one of the hospital’s strategic priorities.

It will also provide important economic benefits to the community as the hospital plans to attract a variety of regional sports tournaments to the facility.

Space for all sports
CCH’s new fieldhouse will be a state-of-the-art facility that includes:
  • Tennis courts.
  • A football field.
  • A soccer field.
  • Volleyball courts.
  • Basketball courts.
  • A suspended track for walking and running.
  • Both indoor and outdoor areas for competitive sports and fitness and /recreation areas.
  • Space for some of CCH’s physical and rehabilitation services.
