Columbus Community Hospital is committed to sharing the positive aspects of nursing and supporting those who are passionate about health care. With that end in mind, we are offering the Student Nurse Internship Program.
Because of the estimated nursing shortage, Columbus Community Hospital wants to make sure we have enough nursing staff for our patients. We encourage individuals choosing a career in nursing to apply for the Student Nurse Internship Program.
The hospital has developed three tracks to meet the needs of potential student — one for Bachelor of Science in nursing students, one for Associate Degree in nursing students, and one for certified nursing assistants who want to become nurses.
Interns will receive work experience and scholarship assistance from the hospital that covers up to 75% of school tuition, books, and fees (up to hospital policy). Program interns can qualify for loan forgiveness after graduating and successfully passing board exams. The employment commitment to Columbus Community Hospital will directly correlate to the amount of financial support the intern receives.
Applicants must submit the Student Nurse Internship Program application, as well as their resume, transcript, a brief essay regarding their desire to be a registered nurse and two letters of reference.
Please send your application to Alecia Neidig, director of professional practice, or Dona Kudron, director of outpatient nursing services, at Columbus Community Hospital, P.O. Box 1800, Columbus, NE 68601. Applications are open biannually. Spring applications are due by April 15, and fall applications are due by Oct. 31. Applicants will be notified for interviews and acceptance following each deadline.
For more information, please contact Alecia Neidig at 402-562-3366 or Dona Kudron at 402-562-4624.
