Driver Rehabilitation Program
Community Mobility is an important part of a person’s autonomy and independence. Changes in physical, mental, and sensory abilities may create challenges for many individuals and may hamper their ability to drive safely.
Our Occupational Therapist (OT) has the knowledge needed to recognize the impact of medical conditions and the aging process on driving performance. This OT can provide you with the most advance training and vehicle modifications available today so that you can drive safely tomorrow.
Who can benefit?
- Must be 16 years old or older
- Must have a driver’s license or learner’s permit
- You may have suffered from one of the following:
- Neurological impairments (Brain Injury, Stroke, Parkinson’s, MS)
- Orthopedic Impairments
- Spinal Cord Injury
- Memory Deficits
- Onset of Dementia
- Vision Impairments
- Age-related changes
Our program begins with a 2-part evaluation, a clinical portion and an On the Road session. This is followed by a variety of recommendations to include driver retraining sessions and/or vehicle modifications. We will discuss other resources for transportation if driving is no longer recommended.
