Columbus Community Foundation Announces New Board Members

(COLUMBUS, NE) The Columbus Community Hospital Foundation Board of Directors recently announced the election of officers for fiscal year 2016 -17 and welcomed two new members.
Jay Trofholz, O.D. and Jeremy Albin, M.D., both of Columbus, joined current board members: Tom Jarecke (Chair), Marty Nore (Vice Chair), Marilyn Murray (Secretary), Bob Irby (Treasurer), Con Nosal (Past Chair), John Cimpl, James Fehringer, Connie Hellbusch, Robert “Whitey” Walgren, Michael Hansen (CEO/President Columbus Community Hospital), Brian Schmidt (Chairman CCH Board of Directors), and Carol Keller (Foundation Executive Director).
Dr. Jeremy Albin was born in Kijabe, Kenya to missionary parents. He lived in Kenya and Swaziland before returning to the United States, and then moved to Broken Bow, Neb. He graduated from Broken Bow High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biological Systems Engineering. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Albin is a General Surgeon at Columbus General Surgery.
Dr. Albin belongs to the Nebraska Medical Association, American College of Surgeons and the Christian Medical and Dental Association. He also enjoys reading, golf, Husker athletics and music. Dr. Albin and his wife, Karin, have two sons, and are expecting a baby in August.
Jay Trofholz was born in Schuyler, Neb., and graduated from Schuyler Central High School.
He continued his education in Houston, where he graduated from the University of Houston and the University of Houston, College of Optometry in 1978. Jay provided care at the Optometric Center of Columbus, P.C. from 1980 to 2010.
In addition to serving on the Columbus Community Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, Jay is an owner and director at First Nebraska Bank, president of the Center for Survivors Endowment, a director on the Central Community College Foundation Board and serves on the Catholic Charities Advisory Board.
Dr. Trofholz and his wife, Jeanine, have three grown children, Evan, Amanda and Chad.
The mission of the Columbus Community Hospital Foundation is to build goodwill and financial support for the Hospital.
