H1N1 Nasal Spray Available at OHS Columbus, NE (October, 2009) – A limited supply of H1N1 nasal spray is now available at Occupational Health Services of Columbus Community Hospital. This live, intranasal vaccine is available to the highest priority groups and will be distributed according to guidelines set by the Center for Disease Control as follows: 1) Children ages 2 through 24 years of age. 2) Individuals, ages 2 through 49, who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age.
There are additional considerations in receiving the vaccine and patients will be asked to complete a screening questionnaire before vaccine administration.
The H1N1 nasal spray is not recommended for women who are pregnant or who could become pregnant within the next month. If you are not considered eligible for the nasal spray, the H1N1 injectable vaccine will be available in the near future.
Office hours for Occupational Health Services are from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday and no appointment is necessary. A fee of $10.00 per child or participant applies and OHS accepts cash or check, only.
Patients are encouraged to consult their personal family physician for questions about the vaccine and/or the CDC recommendations.
