Columbus Community Hospital Names New CEO The Columbus Community Hospital Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Hansen as the Hospital’s new President/CEO. The announcement was made by Anne Hall, Board Chair.
“We are very pleased Michael Hansen has accepted the position as CCH’s new President/CEO. He will be an excellent steward of the Hospital’s resources; has the experience to carry the organization forward and the vision to expand the services offered to the residents of Columbus and the surrounding area.”
Hansen has spent the past 4 years as the CEO of the Pender Community Hospital District in Pender, Nebraska. Over his twenty-seven year career, he has also held various positions at hospitals in Iowa, Texas, California and Louisiana.
“It will be a tremendous honor to serve as CEO at Columbus Community Hospital.” Hansen states, “It will provide me with a wonderful challenge in a good-sized hospital that is progressive and vigilant in the desire to always improve and grow.”
Having received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University, Hansen earned his Masters Degree in Health Services Management and Human Resources Development from Webster University. He is a Board member with the Northeast Nebraska Department of Health, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, and is also active with the Pender Economic Development Group.
In the communities where he has lived and worked, Hansen has been active in many different civic groups and looks forward to being a visible and active member of the Columbus Community.
“The City of Columbus is very supportive of its hospital and understands how fortunate they are to have such high quality medical personnel and services available to them. Columbus is a community that I will feel very comfortable becoming part of.” Hansen continues, “It is vibrant, safe and provides the amenities I’m looking for.”
The father of two daughters, Hansen’s older daughter lives in Omaha and has two small children. “Living in Columbus will afford me the opportunity to continue doing what I love…working in rural Nebraska and staying close to my family and friends long term.”
Hansen is expected to begin employment on November 30, 2009. Interim President/CEO Bill Luke will continue to work closely with the Hospital to ensure an effective transition in leadership.
