Hospital Foundation Selects New Board Members The Columbus Community Hospital Foundation recently announced the addition of two new members to their Board of Directors. Members added to the Foundation Board are James A. Fehringer and John M. Cimpl. Fehringer and Cimpl will join Board Members Robert Mead (Chairman), Carroll Novicki (Vice Chairman), Ron Asche (Treasurer), Jim Pillen (Past Chairman) Pat Anderson, Veronica Brandl, Ron Ernst, M.D., Jamie Ferguson, Anne Hall, (Chairman CCH Board)., Linda Labenz, Luke Lemke, M.D., Bill Luke, Lee Rupp, Dick Tooley, Robert “Whitey” Walgren, Donna Klopnieski, Karen Evans, and Carol Keller (Foundation Director). Stepping down after completing his term is Jim Scow along with Dwayne Smith who is retiring from the Board.
James (Jim) A. Fehringer is President and shareholder of Fehringer, Mielak & Fehringer, P.C., L.L.O. law firm. Originally from Lindsay, Nebraska, Fehringer is graduate of Lindsay Holy Family High School and of the University of Nebraska College of Agriculture. He is a graduate of the Creighton University School of Law.
Fehringer is a past member and President of the Scotus Central Catholic High School of Columbus, Nebraska Board of Education and past board member of the Nebraska Community Foundation, Inc.
Fehringer currently serves as Trustee for the St. Benedict Center Endowment Fund, a member of the Nebraska State Bar and Platte County Bar Associations, board member of the Great Plains Tax Institute, Inc., board member of the Nebraska Continuing Legal Education, Inc. and member of the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus.
John M. Cimpl is President and General Manager of Columbus Hydraulic Company and is a native of Tabor, South Dakota. He received his BSBA degree from Creighton University.
Cimpl is Past President of the Columbus Optimist Club and was presented the Optimist of the Year award in 1980. He is a past board member and President of the St. Bonaventure School Board and Past President and board member of the Columbus Scotus School Board. Cimpl is also a past board member and Chairman of the Elks Country Club.
In addition, Cimpl’s community involvement includes serving as United Way Fund Drive Chairman in 2007. He received the United Way Volunteer of the Year award in 2004. Cimpl currently serves on the board of the Columbus Area United Way and is Chairman of the St. Bonaventure Church Finance Committee.
Cimpl and his wife, Marlene are the parents of four daughters and have three grandchildren.
The Columbus Community Hospital Foundation was established in 2001 to provide a charitable means by which individuals, businesses and organizations can support the health care mission of Columbus Community Hospital.
