Columbus Community Hospital Selects New Board Members & Officers The Columbus Community Hospital Board of Directors has elected new officers for the fiscal year 2009-2010. Officers are: Anne Hall, Chairperson; James Pillen, DVM, Vice Chairperson; Bill Luke, Secretary; Jeffrey Gotschall, MD, Treasurer.
The hospital also selected two new Board members to replace retiring Board members. The new members are Bonnie McPhillips and Brian Schmidt. They replaced Richard Anderson and Robert White.
Bonnie McPhillips has been employed by Nebraska Workforce Development for the past 27 years and is the Regional Manager. McPhillips serves on the Board for Simon House, St. Vincent de Paul Society and Columbus Habitat for Humanity. She is actively involved in the Columbus Area Economic Development, is a member of the Columbus Economic Council and the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, for which she is Chairperson for the Chamber’s Workforce Taskforce. Bonnie and her husband, Bill, are the parents of two sons, Justin and Levi.
Brian Schmidt is President of the Shelby Lumber and Schuyler Lumber Companies, including Shelby Lumber’s location in Columbus. Schmidt is Chairman of the Polk County Zoning Committee, a Board member of the Northwestern Lumber Association, the Polk County Foundation and Columbus Home Builders Association. Brian and his wife, Becky, have four grown children and one grandchild.
Board Members continuing to serve include: Edward Discoe, MD, Ronald Ernst, MD, Jeff Johnson, John McClure, Rebecca Rayman, and Tony Raimondo, Jr.
The Hospital Board is responsible for ensuring that Columbus and surrounding communities receive affordable, quality health care. Board Members monitor hospital performance, seek solutions to community health problems, assist in keeping the community informed and approve medical staff appointments and privileges.
