Columbus Community Hospital Partners with EMS in Disaster Drill Columbus Community Hospital recently participated in the multi-county Disaster Drill conducted by the Emergency Management System of Platte County. Approximately 58 hospital staff members were involved in the exercise.
“By participating in this event,” states Sara Hough, Risk Manager at the hospital, “we were able to test how efficiently we respond to a surge in patients. We were also able to test our staff recall plan and building security during a crisis.”
Several area physicians responded to the drill and teamed with the hospital for the event. They were Dr. Mark Howerter, Dr. Jeff Gotschall, Dr. Ronald Klutman, Dr. Myron Morse, Dr. Robert Miller, Dr. Cody Harlan, Dr. Richard Clark, Dr. Gregg Foote and J.J. Jensen, N.P.
Collaboration with local Emergency Medical Services and other community agencies were one of the goals for Columbus Community Hospital. Developing a working relationship during a disaster was another. “We want to be an efficient and reliable team member for our community in an emergency.” states Cookie Terry, CCH Safety Coordinator. “The framework for our disaster plan is present, and our goal for the future is to refine our recall system.”
