CCH Receives Letter of Commendation from CIMRO of Nebraska Columbus Community Hospital has received a letter of commendation from CIMRO of Nebraska as one of six hospitals in the state to achieve 95-100 percent agreement with the Clinical Data Abstraction Center (CDAC) in the abstraction/validation process. The data is evaluated on a quarterly basis and the hospital’s scores have been consistently been 100% for the last four quarters. The commendation is due to the excellent job of the hospital’s data coordinator/abstractor, Karen Blaser, LPN.
CIMRO, Nebraska’s Medicare Quality Improvement Organization, is under contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to ensure that patients receive appropriate care meeting standards set by Medicare.
Blaser is responsible for finding information on the medical records related to the hospital’s quality (CORE) measures and reporting this information to Medicare (CMS) and the Joint Commission. Hospitals report four CORE measures involving information related to care of patients with Pneumonia, Congestive Heart Failure, Surgical and Heart Attack Care. This information is reported to the public at www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov.
“It is a remarkable achievement to consistently achieve 95-100 percent agreement with CDAC in the abstraction/validation process.” states Greg Schieke, Senior Vice-President of CIMRO. “This achievement is an indication of well-trained, dedicated abstractors that are knowledgeable of the criteria.”
