Columbus Community Hospital Selects New Board Members The Columbus Community Hospital Board of Directors has elected new officers for 2007. Newly elected officers are Jeff Johnson, Chairman; John McClure, Vice Chairman; Anne Hall, Treasurer; Claude Chatterton (CCH President/CEO), Secretary. The hospital also selected two new board members to replace vacancies. The new members are Dr. Deborah Anderson and Dr. Ron Ernst.
Dr. Anderson received her BA, summa cum laude, from Hastings College and received her medical degree with the honor of High Distinction from the University of Nebraska Med Center. After completing her residency in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dr. Anderson joined the CCH Pediatric Clinic in 1997.
Dr. Anderson is President of the Columbus Community Hospital Medical Staff, chairperson of the Board of Education for Peace Lutheran Church and Den Leader of Cub Scout Pack 192. Dr. Anderson is married to Dr. Kip Anderson. They are the parents of two children, Kyle and Katie.
Dr. Ron Ernst received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Med Center. After completing his General Surgery residency at the University of Kansas-Wichita, Dr. Ernst opened Columbus General Surgery in 1987.
Dr. Ernst is a current member of the American College of Surgeons, Nebraska Chapter of American College of Surgeons, Nebraska Medical Association and Platte Valley Medical Association. He has also served as President of the Columbus Community Hospital Medical Staff, Chairman of the Hospital’s Surgery Committee and is a current member of the Columbus Community Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. Dr. Ernst and his wife, Ann, have two children, John and Katie.
Board members continuing to serve include Rich Anderson, Jim Pillen, Rebecca Rayman, Tony Raimondo, Jr., Rick Schumacher, and Robert “Bob” White.
The Hospital Board is responsible for ensuring that Columbus and surrounding communities receive affordable, quality health care. Board members monitor hospital performance, seek solutions to community health problems, assist in keeping the community informed and approve medical staff appointments and privileges.
