Occupational Health Services Receives “Population Pool Award” Keeping employees healthy is the mission of Occupational Health Services at Columbus Community Hospital. In recognition of their service to area employers, OHS was recently awarded the 2006 PCP “Population Pool Award” at the 5th Annual Networking Conference in Council Bluffs, IA.
To qualify for the award, OHS demonstrated a history growth in providing the testing to areas businesses. In the first 14 months using the new PCP Testing System, Occupational Health Services has administered over 1,200 PCP tests in a workforce of 17,800 and exceeded the number of tests administered by comparable sized testing sites.
The Physical Capacity Profile Testing System utilizes specialized equipment to pre-test applicants and determine appropriate job placement, minimizing the potential of on-the-job injury. The system was developed by a physician and utilizes state-of-the-art computerized software to collect strength measurements.
“Being able to help companies reduce injuries by ensuring employees have the physical strength to safely perform their job responsibilities is the goal of our testing services” states Amy Blaser, OHS Director. “OHS is assisting employers to reduce their workers’ compensation exposure by documenting pre-placement impairments.” To learn more about the Physical Capacity Profile Testing System being offered by Occupational Health Services, call 562-4481.
