Dr. Edward Discoe Named as Hospital Board Member Columbus Community Hospital has named Dr. Edward Discoe to the Hospital Board of Directors. As President of the Medical Staff, Dr. Discoe will serve a two-year term on the Board in an ex-officio capacity.
Hospital Board members are responsible for ensuring that Columbus and surrounding communities receive affordable, quality health care. Board members monitor hospital performance, seek solutions to community health problems and assist in keeping the community informed about hospital services.
Dr. Discoe received his pre-med education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Med Center. After completing his residency at Via Christi Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Discoe moved to Columbus in 1997. He has been a Board Certified Family Physician since 1997 and became a partner in Columbus Medical Center in 1998.
In addition to his recent appointment to the Hospital’s Board, Dr. Discoe serves as Chairman of the Medical Staff Executive Committee. He also serves on the Hospital’s Home Health/Hospice Committee, the Diabetes Advisory Committee and the Information Systems Committee. Currently, he serves as Chairman of Nebraska’s State Board of Health and is an Executive Committee member of the Platte Valley PHO.
Dr. Discoe and his wife Pam have four children, Cameron age 16, Stratton age 14, Chloe age 9 and Porter age 7.
