The Columbus Community Hospital Auxiliary has been in existence since 1972. It was organized after the merger of the Behlen Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital. Since that time, the Auxiliary has hosted countless events from the ever-popular and highly successful annual Extravaganza, to various bake sales, book fairs, holiday open houses and raffles that have resulted in the Auxiliary purchasing much needed equipment for the Hospital.
When the new Hospital opened, it included the Unique Discoveries Gift Shop which has propelled the efforts of the Auxiliary ten-fold. In 1975, the Auxiliary raised $6,500 for Ophthalmology Equipment. In 2001 the Auxiliary raised $27,500 for several items benefiting a variety of departments. In 2008, the Auxiliary will raise a total of $100,000 for the Hospital.
