Because your care is our focus, the physicians and staff of the hospital have aligned themselves with our mission, vision and I CARE values. Although we believe in the benefits of modern technology and medicine, we believe even more in the need for personal service. We have one goal in mind: to make Columbus Community Hospital the best place for you to receive care.

Below is just a sampling of the comments our patients have shared about their care. We encourage you to let us know about your experience at Columbus Community Hospital by using our recognition page. This is your hospital and we are always interested in hearing from you.

Maternal Child Health

"When I went to Columbus Community Hospital for my hysterectomy, I was very pleased with how I was treated during my stay in the Maternal Child Health wing. The nurses were busy helping bring new lives into the world, but at the same time they were concerned with my well being, from emotional to pain control. I might as well have been their only patient during my stay.

I’ve had the same nurses from the birth of our first child in 1999 to our last in 2005 and through this latest procedure. The nurses in Maternal Child Health go above and beyond to take care of you and you can tell, they love what they do. I could not imagine going any place else to have our children or any other hospital procedures."

- Susan Littlefield, Columbus

Nursing Staff / Volunteers

"I was admitted for a very brief stay involving another procedure same as the one a year ago. At that time, I wrote you that my nurse, Maureen, made a very good first impression. Yes, she is still a first rate nurse and a very nice person.

All my caregivers were very professional and courteous just like they were one year ago. Each of them seems to be well aware of the healing power of a smile.

My procedure was a bit more involved this year, so it took longer than expected for me to wake up and recover. Rather than have my wife and grandson wait in the front lobby, they were escorted to my room. Before doing so, someone at the front desk gave Mitch a small stuffed puppy. Upon his arrival in my room he placed his puppy in bed with me so my nurse could also take care of it and make it better, as well as me. I love his spontaneity!

So in case anyone asks, you now have another example to illustrate how your little visitors’ imagination and behavior are influenced in some interesting and unpredictable ways by the attitudes and actions of your staff and volunteers.

In appreciation of the kindness extended to Mitch, my check is enclosed to help continue the program that provides such gifts to your little visitors.

I wish you well. And warm regards to all of your folks."

Premier Physical Therapy

"I originally saw Randy Perault several years ago because I suffered from low back pain. The good news is that I stayed healthy and didn’t need physical therapy again until recently when I broke my wrist. I did not hesitate to return to Randy and Premier Physical Therapy for my treatments.

I chose Premier Physical Therapy and Randy Perault because I trust his judgment and have total confidence in what I am being asked to do in my therapy sessions.

I am a diabetic and want to get back to the tennis regiment that helps me maintain a healthy lifestyle and manage the disease. My therapy at Premier is the roadmap that will get me there as safely and quickly as possible."

"I’m a running back for Scotus High and in one of our games I was
tackled especially hard. The pain in my hip and leg told me it was
more than just a hard tackle. They discovered I had a dislocated hip.

My injury was unique for someone my age and my doctors told me
I would need 10 weeks of physical therapy. Jon Brezenski at Premier Physical Therapy created an individualized program to help
strengthen my leg muscles, specifically around my hip. Jon is
always there making sure I’m not in pain during my therapy.

I love sports and play on the football, basketball and soccer teams at Scotus. With the help of Jon Brezenski at Premier Physical
Therapy, I have made a full return to sports and am playing
basketball this season."

"Because of an accident on the golf course, I suffered a major fracture
in my upper arm. My surgery lasted 5 1/2 hours and resulted in an 8" plate in my arm. My doctor told me that I would need physical therapy for at least 4 to 6 months. He let me choose where I wanted to go for therapy and I chose Premier Physical Therapy.

Although there was some pain in
the beginning, Pam Perault personalized my therapy program so that I could recover quickly and safely with as little pain as possible. She also put together an exercise
program that I could use at home.

My injury was so severe that I was
told I might never be able to lift my
arm above my shoulder again. It’s
only been four months since my
surgery and I am to a point I never
thought I would be at this soon.

Pam and the staff of Premier are
very professional and work as a
team. It’s very obvious that they are
passionate about what they do."

"When I broke my wrist, I was in a cast for about 6 weeks. After the cast came off, my doctor suggested that I look into therapy to get my wrist back to normal functioning order. I had never been through therapy before and was a little skeptical, but I knew that if I wanted to regain full function of my wrist I would need rehabilitation to get there.

I had heard such great things about the therapy department at Columbus Community Hospital that I gave them a call. I met first with an Occupational Therapist, to set goals and develop a plan about what we would accomplish with therapy.

The staff in the rehab department was fantastic. Without their help, I wouldn’t have regained 100% function in my wrist. I highly recommend the therapy department at Columbus Community Hospital."

"When I injured my foot two months ago, my doctor recommended physical therapy. He let me decide where I would like to go for treatment. I chose Premier Physical Therapy.

Everyone at Premier is very professional and my therapist, Jay Pelan, is so down to earth. He took the time to explain the problems with my injury and the steps of my therapy. Jay also showed me simple exercises I could do at home.

I didn’t think I’d be able to walk again without a limp, but by working together with Jay, I’ve had a complete recovery and no limping.

I feel my therapy has been very successful and would tell anyone with an injury not to wait and continue to be in pain. I would highly recommend Premier Physical Therapy."

Wiggles & Giggles

"Our son Joey was born in 2004 with a rare genetic disorder called Cornelia de Lange Syndrome. He began showing signs of physical and developmental delays when he was only a few months old. Joey has been attending Wiggles & Giggles Therapy for Kids for
the past 2 1/2 years and has come a long way since his first visit. The Wiggles & Giggles staff has been the key to much of his success.

They are a group of caring and
compassionate individuals who use all of their resources to help each and every child that comes to the facility. The staff always has friendly smiles and cheerful attitudes to make everyone feel welcome.

We are very lucky to have such a
great place where our son can learn
new things. We are thankful for the
wonderful and talented staff and we know they are just as proud of Joey as we are.

Keean Cruise was 2 ½ years old when his doctor diagnosed him as being developmentally delayed. His mother, Kathy, heard about the Wiggles and Giggles Therapy for Kids program and she gave them a call to see if there was anything they could do to help her son.

Through the efforts of his therapy team, including Nichole Reardon, Pediatric Speech Therapist at Wiggles and Giggles, Keean has amazed his mother with his progress. “Nichole always sees his strengths.” she states. “She has developed games using those strengths so that he doesn’t realize he’s actually doing therapy. He looks forward to his sessions.”

Kathy says his therapy team has been wonderful about working with Keean’s doctors. "He receives the highest level of therapy, specifically directed to help him overcome his challenges. They are experts in sensory needs."

"The whole staff is so supportive of parents. Through the cutting edge programs of Wiggles and Giggles
Therapy for Kids," Kathy says, "we can see that Keean will be successful."

At the age of two Eastyn Klink was diagnosed with Apraxia, a disease which is an inability of the brain to produce coordinated muscle movement required for speaking. She was on target with other motor skills. She was very coordinated and very smart. Eastyn’s mother, Rikki, began taking her daughter to Omaha for therapy. But then she heard
about Wiggles and Giggles Therapy for Kids.

Before beginning speech therapy with Wiggles and Giggles, Rikki said her daughter had little self-esteem and tried to talk with her hands. “Eastyn became frustrated very easily because she couldn’t make herself understood.” Rikki says. Once Eastyn started at Wiggles and Giggles, she began to learn how to coordinate muscle movement for speech.

“Because I wanted to get better,” Eastyn said, “I would practice in front of the mirror at home what I had learned at my sessions.”

As a result of Speech Therapist, Delanie Hudnall, and the Wiggles and Giggles Therapy for Kids program, Eastyn’s mother says her daughter is a different person now. "It has helped Eastyn believe in herself again" Rikki states, "and I want other parents to know that if their child needs help, it is right here in Columbus."

CCH Rapid Response Team

"The last thing I thought was going to happen to me was an emergency visit to the hospital, but that is where I found myself last year. And when my health suddenly went from bad to worse, I was fortunate to have
members of the Rapid Response Team at Columbus Community Hospital on hand.

The Team members were comforting, talking to me and reassuring me about what I was going through and what they were doing to help me.

When your health is in jeopardy
it means so much to have people
care for you and make you feel like
you are the most important patient they have."

Level III Trauma Team

In June of last year, 4-year old Brock Foltz and his family were moving cattle near Platte Center. While helping dad on the 4-wheeler, Brock ran over a pile of hay - flipping the ATV and hitting himself in the head. Brock was bleeding from the mouth, nose and ear. He was transported by the Columbus Fire Department Paramedics to the Hospital’s Emergency Room.

"When Craig and I got to the ER, we were met by a social worker who took us back to see Brock.

While in the ER, the staff kept us very informed as to what was happening to Brock. The team of doctors and nurses all worked very quickly and the teamwork was amazing.

Thanks to the quick actions in the Emergency Department, Brock was back to all normal activities within 3 weeks."
